A Nanango man has been left with his car keys in his pocket and nothing much else after a visit to the Motors In Motion Festival in Kingaroy at the weekend.

The man parked his customised 1996 Ford Falcon XR6 ute in the carpark on Saturday morning while he went off to enjoy the fun.

He told police that when he returned in the afternoon, the vehicle was missing.

Later that evening, police found the vehicle at Narangba, totally destroyed by fire.

Kingaroy police are asking for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the carpark area – such as a vehicle being loaded onto a trailer – to contact them on (07) 4160-4900 or CrimeStoppers on 1800-333-000.

Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Johannesen said at this stage police were unsure whether the vehicle was driven, towed or placed on a trailer but the thieves must have known what they were doing as it was fitted with a vehicle immobiliser.

The Ford Falcon XR6 ute is described as dark blue with a custom front bumper bar, rear wing, side skirts and mag wheels.
