Kingaroy Police have reminded local residents to only call Triple 0 for genuine emergencies.
Officer-in-charge at Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said callers should know their Triple 0 calls were logged and taped.
And even if the caller has “Caller ID” blocked, police can quickly identify from which house the call was made.
“When police receive a Triple 0 call, they are obliged to attend,” he said.
“But we find a large number of Triple 0 calls are trivial or a misuse of the service by the caller.
“I would like to remind people that to ring Triple 0 they must be dealing with an emergency that requires emergency services.
“People should feel free to ring Triple 0 if it is an emergency, but if it is not an emergency an offence may have been committed, ie misuse of Triple 0.”
