A 17-year-old youth suffered a suspected head injury in a water tubing accident at Bjelke-Petersen Dam on Saturday afternoon.

The RACQ CareFlight helicopter landed beside the dam about 5:30pm on Saturday to airlift the teenager.

The Sunshine Coast helicopter crew met Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene and transferred the patient – who was in a stable condition – to Nambour Hospital.
