Acting Inspector Terry McCullough said it was believed the injured man found the parcel at the front of his house.

It is not known if it was left there, delivered by a courier or came through the mail.

A neighbour alerted emergency services after she heard the explosion.

Bomb Disposal Investigation Unit from Brisbane and detectives from Dalby are investigating the incident.

Acting Inspector McCullough confirmed the injured man’s wife died in a car accident during the past 12 months.
