A man has been airlifted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after a water tank rolled and crushed him this morning on a rural property in South Nanango.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene from the Clive Berghofer CareFlight Centre in Toowoomba shortly after 9:00am.

A CareFlight spokesman said the incident occurred when a large water tank being delivered to the property was unloaded.

It apparently rolled down the ramp of the truck and into the man, pinning him to the ground.

The water tank is believed to weigh approximately 300-500kg.

The man was helped free by other workers on the property.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter landed nearby.

A critical care doctor and flight paramedic treated and stabilised the patient before he was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
