Guest speaker Jenny Woodward with Quota Club of Kingaroy president Marie Shaw

March 3, 2014

Kingaroy’s Quota Club kicked off this year’s local International Women’s Day celebrations with a special dinner at the Kingaroy RSL on Saturday night.

Almost 130 people – including a handful of men – gathered to enjoy dinner and listen to guest speaker Jenny Woodward, from the ABC.

Jenny is a well-known face as she presents the evening TV weather but her career with the ABC goes back more than 25 years.

She spoke about growing up in Toowoomba, her early career on commercial TV and her achievements since joining the national broadcaster.

The next International Women’s Day celebration in the region will be held on March 14 at Kumbia, hosted by the Kumbia Kindergarten.

Former “kindy mums” Paula O’Reilly, Ros Heit, Wendy McCallum and Lou Bishop enjoyed a night out together
