The South Burnett Women’s Soccer competition came to a close last Friday night at Tom Alford Oval in Kingaroy, with the top two teams all year battling it out again for glory.
The mid-season President’s Cup game was a draw between Barambah and Kingaroy Wests at full-time, with Wests winning a tense penalty shootout.
But Barambah earned their revenge in the Grand Final, downing Wests 4-0.
Barambah began the game strongly and despite trying hard, Wests could not find the goal.
At the end of the game, Kingaroy Wests’ player Anna Logan was named the South Burnett Women’s Player of the Year.
This award is decided across the whole season, with best and fairest points collated.
Dane Hampton was named Junior Referee of the Year for his work with the women’s competition.
Footnote: Walking Football will resume at Tom Alford Oval on Tuesday, October 13. Everyone is invited to try out this sport and enjoy a fun, social night at the Kingaroy Senior Soccer clubhouse. Footwear is runners (no boots) and there’s no need for shin guards. No experience is necessary!
