Police have charged a 16-year-old Murgon boy after a series of suspicious fires in Murgon earlier this month.
It will be alleged that between 8:00am and 10:30am on September 5, the boy lit a small fire at the Murgon Skate Park in Gore Street, before going to the public toilets in Lamb Street where he allegedly set fire to toilet rolls, causing damage to the walls of the building.
Police will allege the boy then went to Angel Avenue and lit a grass fire on the South Burnett Rail Trail.
This grass fire was about 100 metres long.
A police spokesperson said the fires were safely extinguished and there were no reports of injuries.
A boy has been charged with several offences including endangering property by fire, light unauthorised fire and possession of a knife in a public place.
He appeared in Murgon Children’s Court on September 15.
