Is the “If you drink, don’t drive” message FINALLY getting through to South Burnett residents?

Office-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, told southburnett.com.au today that since December 1 more than 700 random breath tests have been conducted in the Kingaroy area with just one positive result.

However the good news about drink-drivers is balanced by the number of motor vehicle accidents in the area which could have been avoided if drivers had been obeying the road rules.

Since December 1, there have been 10 crashes, including two which resulted in injuries.

“The majority of them could have been avoided,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

Poor driving – including failing to stop at a “stop sign”, failing to give way, speeding and following too close (tailgating) – were to blame for most of the incidents.

“If drivers had been doing the right thing these incidents would have been avoided,” Snr Sgt Frank said.
