Alcohol-related incidents in Kingaroy have prompted police to issue a timely warning about over-indulgence in the lead-up to Christmas.

Kingaroy officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said people should be mindful of their alcohol consumption and understand they have an obligation to behave responsibly, particularly when they attended licensed premises or were out in public.

He said people celebrating in a group should also try to “look out” for their friends who had had too much alcohol and try to keep them out of harm’s way.

Snr Sgt Frank said police had been called to a number of incidents recently where it was quite clear people had consumed far too much alcohol.

“It is obviously a very serious situation when people are being assaulted or are fighting each other,” he said.

“One punch can kill. At the end of the day, people have to take responsibility for their actions and will be held accountable.”
