About 80 women – and a couple of men – gathered at Wooroolin on Wednesday for a special joint forum hosted by the Barambah branch of the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN).

Attendees had the opportunity to listening to guest speakers – QRRRWN president Georgie Somerset and Ironpot author Alice Greenup – as well as re-living the 2011/13 floods and recovery via a slide presentation by Nanango author Liz Caffery.

There were also lots of opportunities for networking.

Also taking part in the day was a busload of members of the National Council of Women of Queensland (NCWQ) from Brisbane as well as Year 10 students from Murgon State High School.

Wooroolin Hall was also the “place to be” for several candidates contesting the upcoming South Burnett Regional Council by-election for Division 6.

The biennial joint forum of the QRRRWN and NCWQ is usually held in Gympie; this is the first time that it has been hosted in the South Burnett.

Attendees also enjoyed morning tea and lunch and had the opportunity to browse stalls featuring local produce.
