The Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) is proud to have been inducted into the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame.

The QCWA has joined Queensland icons such as the late Steve Irwin (1962-2006), Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Golden Circle Ltd, Royal Flying Doctors Service of Australia (Queensland Section) and Brisbane’s longest serving Lord Mayor Dr Clem Jones AO (1918-2007) into the Hall of Fame.

QCWA State President Jennie Hill said the not for-profit association was honoured to be amongst those Queensland inductees who contributed to the Queensland economy, well-being of Queenslanders and service to their community.

Mrs Hill said some of the inductee criteria covered sustained leadership, major financial contributions, pioneering and outstanding contribution and length of service to Queensland.

“During our 90-year history, thousands of women have served their community through the best and harshest of experiences which includes World War II, recessions, floods, fires and droughts,” Mrs Hill said.

“It is an honour and proud moment in our history to be recognised for our outstanding social and philanthropic contribution to the community.

“Our members have worked tirelessly towards supporting people, causes and other organisations in our communities.”

The Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame was founded in 2009 to recognise public contributions by leaders of business to the reputation of Queensland and its economic and social development.

It was founded by the QUT Business School, State Library of Queensland and the Queensland Library Foundation to recognise the achievement of business leadership excellence in Queensland.

Queensland Governor Dr Penelope Wensley inducted the nominees at a gala dinner in Brisbane last Thursday.
