July 22, 2013

The overcast weather – and some light showers – didn’t deter racegoers from donning their “Bling, Buttons and Bows” for the Wondai Races on Saturday.

This was the designated fashion theme for the day, and the eager punters obliged, parading in front of the main grandstand under the guidance of local councillor Kathy Duff.

Competition winners were:

  • Best Dressed Man – Luke Radunz
  • Best Dressed Woman – Amy Harch
  • Best Dressed Couple – Brendan Seymour and Lisa Heiniger

Other local winners on the day included South Burnett trainers Christiene Nettelfield (Fusette, Race 3) and Glenn Richardson (Just Watcher, Race 4) who enjoyed good wins.

The jazz ensemble from St Joseph’s Catholic School at Murgon entertained the crowd in between races.

The South Burnett Race Club is now getting ready for their next big meeting – on Caulfield Cup Day – where they will be celebrating their 100th birthday.

This centenary meeting will be held on October 19.
