Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington visited Kingaroy State High School recently to congratulate staff on the announcement of $2.791 million to build new classrooms.

“The Kingaroy SHS community has been aware for some time of the need for the new classrooms to prepare for the move of Grade 7 to high school,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“I’m thrilled to announce that the Newman Government will deliver this project. Construction and planning for the new Grade 7 classrooms is expected to commence in late 2013 with the classrooms ready by mid-2014 in preparation for the Year 7’s arrival in 2015.”

Mrs Frecklington said the local construction industry would also benefit from the project.

“Construction is one of the Newman Government’s four economic pillars and we recognise that builders have been doing it tough in recent times,” she said.

“Since being elected the Newman Government has made a clear commitment to local tradespeople that where possible, works at local schools would be done by locals.

“This is about improving facilities for students, boosting our local economy and enhancing the involvement of the community in our schools.”

Mrs Frecklington said Kingaroy State High School had also received funding through the State Government’s “Fixing Our Schools” Fund to undertake maintenance projects.
