A chartered helicopter has delivered three loads of food today to assist 250 people stranded at Manar Tourist Park near Proston.

Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, from Kingaroy Police, said there were 180 adults and 70 children being looked after at the motocross and 4WD facility.

The South Burnett Disaster Management Group organised the Toowoomba chopper, which was loaded with supplies by SES, police and council personnel.

On its first return trip, the helicopter also evacuated a woman from the park who was suffering chest pains; she was taken directly to Kingaroy Hospital.

The chopper then returned to Kingaroy Airport to refuel before taking off on its second, and then third flights.

Senior Sergeant Frank said it was hoped all the people would be able to leave Manar Park by the end of the week.
