Langports English College students travelled from Brazil, Colombia, Russia, Switzerland and Japan to present Cherbourg State School achievers with rewards for studying hard

It’s deadly cool to stay in school, even if you’re visiting Australia from the other side of the planet …

Langports English Language College gave the campaign an international flavour yesterday when some of its overseas students presented bicycles to Cherbourg State School’s top students of the year.

The international students are studying at the Brisbane school to improve their English skills.

Langports director Susie France said the students had raised funds for the school rewards by holding barbecues and other events after they  learned about the “It’s Deadly Cool to Stay in School” slogan and the Barambah PaCE project.

“Our motto is to improve children’s live through education projects and we liked your ‘Deadly Cool to Stay in School’,” Ms France said.

“Education is a gift and it does allow for children to reach their full potential and lead happier, fulfilling lives.”

Cherbourg State School principal Peter Sansby said the joy on the children’s faces when they received the bikes made the year worthwhile.

“They came to school every day, tried hard and did well,” he said.

“They deserved their small reward.”

Switzerland’s Claudia D’Andrea and Brazil’s Akemy Maruyama were glad to give pre-prep student Krishante Morgan a bike as a reward for her academic achievements throughout the year
