BreastScreen bus will be in Kingaroy from November  to February

Women aged 50 to 69 years in the Kingaroy area are being urged to take advantage of free breast cancer screening services available from November to February.

BreastScreen Queensland’s state-of-the-art digital mobile service will be based at the Kingaroy Hospital from November 2012 and will remain there until February next year.

BreastScreen Queensland Health Promotion Officer Jessica Hobbs said it was essential women looked after their health and had a regular breast screen.

“Breast cancer is still the most common cancer affecting Queensland women,” she said.

“Early detection could save your life. All women aged between 50 and 69 years are strongly encouraged to have a free breast screen every two years. All women over the age of 40 are also eligible to attend.

“Women in the target age groups in the Kingaroy area should take the opportunity provided by the visit of the mobile service to their area to have a breast screen done.”

A doctor’s referral is not required to attend the mobile screening service.
