RHealth's Kingaroy office will remain
open until June 2013

RHealth in Kingaroy has moved to clear up confusion about why it is still operating despite passing its funding deadline.

As southburnett.com.au reported on September 28, funding for one position has been extended to June next year.

However there is still no confirmation about funding for the Community Nutritionist position, the role formerly held by Berneice Hilly.

A media statement released today confirmed that RHealth will continue to deliver Chronic Disease Prevention Programs throughout the South Burnett until June 2013.

As predicted, RHealth has been successful in obtaining funding from Queensland Health for the continuation of the Healthy Lifestyles Program. This position is held by exercise physiologist Caitlin Isaac.

RHealth will continue to deliver the successful “10 Week Swap It Waist Loss Program” which earlier in 2012 saw 68 participants lose a collective 310cm off their waistlines.

Ms Isaac is currently planning new activities and programs for 2013, incorporating nutrition and physical activity, while supporting South Burnett Regional Council to deliver programs through the Healthy Communities Initiative.

“We are proud of the work we have done in the South Burnett and recognise the productive partnerships we have with organisations like South Burnett Regional Council, Stanwell, Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE, Graham House, Queensland Health, CTC and Centacare,” she said.

“Without their support we would not have delivered 39 Lighten Up Programs to 334 participants, 81 Healthy Lunchbox Workshops to 1380 students and health promotion events reaching over 1400 people.

“Plus, we developed the BBQ Toolkit and Activity Bites in partnership with Active South Burnett, and any resident can get a copy by dropping into the RHealth office.

“We have kept the ball rolling and continue to deliver Active Parks programs, Cook for Life Diabetes Prevention Program and the Reading Bug Project.

“We also have Active Parks starting in Nanango on November 19 and encourage everyone in Nanango to ‘Come and Try’ a new activity.”

If you would like to become involved in any of these activities, contact Ms Isaac on (07) 4162-5230 or by email
