South Burnett businesspeople have been invited to attend a free workshop to be held in Kingaroy on Wednesday night to find out how they can benefit from a Federal Government program to assist skills development in the workforce.

The government will provide $700 million over five years through the National Workforce Development Fund to industry to support training and workforce development in areas of current and future skills need.

Nick Juniper and Patrick Cummings, from Manufacturing Skills Australia (the national Industry Skills Council for manufacturing industry) will be visiting Kingaroy to explain the opportunities available.

Eligible organisations for funding include small, medium or large businesses, professional associations, industry bodies, and employment service providers.

Applications can also be made on behalf of a cluster or consortium of enterprises.

Nick and Patrick will showcase current NWDF projects to highlight the range of projects that can be funded under the program.

Gabrielle Keating, the Local Employment Coordinator for the Southern Wide Bay-Burnett Priority Employment Area, said Nick and Patrick would also be visiting local businesses, including Proteco and Swickers, to explain the program.

The workshop will be held at the Broadway Hotel, 151-155 Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Cost is free and light finger food will be served.
