The Orana Lutheran Complex in Kingaroy is inviting local businesses to take up more than 600sq m of commercial space which is now available within the administration block at the aged care facility.
Orana’s vision is to establish a community hub with local businesses, health and community services, consultants and education groups invited to negotiate occupancy arrangements.
Orana General Manager Richard Fahy told southburnett.com.au the space is available in the recently renovated administration area of the complex, the former nursing home area. The old dining room, which offers more than 200sq m of space, was also available to use.
The hub already features a Telehealth service which uses videoconference technology to link medical specialists in cities with patients in rural communities.
Mr Fahy said the the RSL had expressed interest in running veterans’ services from the facility, and the PCYC was also investigating running programs.
“We are looking at integrating more into the community and liaising with health and community services,” Mr Fahy said.
Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the business initiative was aligned with her priority to support new health services.
“The commercial space now available at Orana is a fantastic addition to commercial rentals for progressive community or health-based groups within Kingaroy and the South Burnett,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for these groups to strengthen their ties with the region to ensure the highest level of care for the South Burnett’s aged population.”
Mr Fahy said there would be many benefits for local businesses that choose to trade at the aged care service.
“Some of the advantages include cost cutting rather than wearing the overheads of your own establishment, entering into an already well-established community and enjoying easy access to all amenities,” he said.
“It’s a good alternative to funding a new development and wearing the associated costs.”
South Burnett Police Citizens Youth Club Branch Manager Michael Eadie said Orana would be a good venue for the Over 50s Strong Healthy Active Body (SHAB) program.
“Orana provides the setting for residents to participate in the program and it is an excellent space,” he said.
“The space is a good size. It is manned by a reception team and is a very professional and welcoming environment.
“Local businesses should visit Orana; they will be pleasantly surprised by the magnitude of commercial space on offer.”
Mr Fahy said the potential for business categories offering a suitable fit were endless, including home aid businesses, allied health services, community services, child-friendly operations and hospitality outlets.
“The new businesses will co-exist with our residents and will offer valuable services to them which would lead to a win-win situation,” he said.
