Burnett Sunsets Free Community Concert - Kingaroy
- Top South Burnett band Ryza will be headlining a free community concert at the Town Hall Forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 5:00pm to around 10:00pm tonight (the concert is being sponsored by the Federal and State Governments and the South Burnett Regional Council). Ryza will be sharing the stage with the Kingaroy State High School Band and South Burnett Young Musician Of The Year award nominee Nathan Hartley. A cash bar and BBQ run by the Kingaroy Rotary Club will be running all evening and guests are welcome to BYO chair (or dancing shoes!) to enjoy the full night. Everyone is welcome!
Murgon Music Muster
- The fifth (and biggest) day of the annual 6-day Murgon Music Muster will get underway at the Murgon PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon today with a bush poet's breakfast from 7:30am to 9:00am, followed by this year's professional country music guest artists who'll play on stage until late tonight. There'll also be a licensed bar and canteen operating on site, and camping sites ($13 per person per night for powered sites or $10 pp/pn for unpowered sites) are available if you want to stay over. Entry fees for this year's Muster are $80 for a 4-day pass covering Thursday to Sunday or $40 today. Nanango Country Markets
- The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Yarraman Men's Shed
- The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers from 10:00am to 4:00pm today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Yarraman Horse Ride
- The annual 25km Yarraman Horse Ride will depart from the Yarraman Showgrounds on the New England Highway south-west of Yarraman at 8:00am this morning for a guided ride around the Yarraman district. Riders need to BYO horses and tack and because this year's ride is limited to 150 riders, pre-booking a place (at $40 per adult or $25 per child) is essential. The Ride will be preceded by a pre-ride talk at 7:00am and a BBQ lunch and drinks will be on sale during the day. Tonight there'll also be a $25 per person spit roast dinner available at the Showgrounds, along with a bar and a DJ. Mr Q Duo At The Royal - Yarraman
- Popular South Burnett band Mr Q Duo will be performing at the Royal Hotel in Toomey Street, Yarraman from 7:00pm until late tonight, delivering their popular mix of classic pub rock and new faves. Trivia Night - Upper Yarraman
- A Trivia Night will be held at the Farmers Hall in Upper Yarraman from 7:00pm tonight to help raise funds for the hall's upkeep. Guests are welcome to BYO drinks and platters will be available for purchase on site. There'll also be raffles and a Lucky Door prize, along with complimentary tea and coffee. Uncle Salty - Kingaroy

Kingaroy Men's Shed
- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Publican's Run - Wondai
- The Cecil Hotel will be holding a Publican's Run for motorcyclists this morning. Participants should assemble with their motorcycles outside the hotel in Mackenzie Street at 10:00am. After this, they'll be taken on a 2 hour mystery (with one or two pit stops) before returning to the Cecil for afternoon tea. There's no fee to take part in the Run and the afternoon tea is optional. - The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am and continuing on until noon. Talon Thomas - Linville
- Entertainer Talon Thomas will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until 8:00pm today. The hotel's kitchen will also be operating from 11:00am for lunch, dinner and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the hotel if you want to stay overnight. Deep & Shallow - Nanango
- The Nanango Theatre Company will be hosting two plays at their playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon: Deep, a multi award-winning drama, and Shallow - a zombie apocalypse comedy. Tickets are $25 for adults or $20 for concessions and they can be booked online.

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Parkrun - Blackbutt
- The Blackbutt parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Blackbutt from 7:00am this morning. The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online (it's officially called the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail parkrun) and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Proston Rally & Burnouts
- The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding their latest Proston Rally at their racing track this weekend (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston at 757 Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence around 10:00am this morning and there'll also be burnouts from around 5:00pm, with racing wrapping up around 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll also be a cash-only canteen and bar running throughout the event, and a hearty breakfast will be available early on Sunday morning. Saturday Line Dancing - Wooroolin
- Line dancing classes will be held at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin this morning. Classes will run from 9:00am to 10:00am (beginners) and 10:30am to 12:30pm (improvers) and a small dancing fee applies to either class. Everyone is welcome.
Saturday Cricket
- The South Burnett's junior cricket teams will play the third round of their local competition today, with all matches starting at 8:00am. In Stage 2, Kingaroy Kookaburras will play Tingoora Vikings at River Road Oval in Kingaroy, and Nanango Scorpions will play the Kingaroy Cobras at the Alan Downey Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango. And in Stage 3, Kingaroy will play Nanango Scorpions at Alan Downey Sports Fields on a second pitch. Meanwhile - in the fifth round of the senior competition - Tingoora Huntsmen will play Wondai Wolves at Tingoora Sportsground; Nanango Scorpions will play Tingoora Vikings at the Alan Downie Sports Fields; Wooroolin Warriors will play Kingaroy Services Blue at the Wondai Cricket Grounds; and Kingaroy Services Orange will play Murgon Diggers at Taabinga State School, with all senior matches starting at 12:30pm. And finally - in round 4 of the Gympie A Grade One Day Competition - Wooroolin Warriors will play Murgon Crusaders at Murgon Showgrounds, and Gympie will play South Burnett at Keith Manthie Oval in Gympie, with both matches also starting at 12:30pm. Spectators are welcome at all games.
