Film & Fantasy - Kingaroy
- The fabulous South Burnett Community Orchestra has invited the public to enjoy an evening of music from "Film & Fantasy" from 6:30pm this evening at the Kingaroy Town Hall. Tickets can be booked online or are available at the door. Cost is $25 for adults (concession and students $15).
Goomeri Lions Christmas Carnival
- The Goomeri Lions' popular annual Christmas Carnival will be held at the Goomeri Showgrounds in Laird Street from 4:00pm to around 8:00pm tonight. This year's Carnival will feature chip and coffee vans, ice creams, face painting for children, live entertainment from Vic Pascoe and carols by the Goomeri State School Choir, plus a novelty stall and a fireworks display sponsored by Nedloh Rural. Mrs Claus will also be putting in an appearance and there'll be a BBQ and bar in operation as well. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission.
Kingaroy Art Gallery Pop-Up Shop Opening
- The KAT Christmas Pop Up Shop will open at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street (opposite the peanut silos) with a preview evening from 5:00pm tonight. About 40 talented artisans from the South Burnett will have their unique products on display and for sale, just in time for Christmas shopping! The pop-up shop will be open every day until 1:00pm on Friday, December 22, and several gift vouchers will be drawn at tonight's preview. There'll also be light refreshments, a glass of wine and an opportunity to chat with artisans. Guests can celebrate the beginning of the festive season while supporting our local artists, and everyone is welcome.
Wondai Country Markets
- The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's new "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed). World's Greatest Shave - Nanango
- Nanango will be holding a World's Greatest Shave at the Commercial Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango from 2:00pm onwards this afternoon. Locals can line up for a shave or hair colouring to help raise funds for the Leukemia Foundation, and there'll also be raffles, a sausage sizzle and live music from V Twins to add to the festivities. Proston Men's Shed
- The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am and continuing on until noon. Kingaroy Men's Shed
- The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Children's Christmas Party - Cooyar
- The Cooyar Progress Association will be hosting a Children's Christmas Party at Memorial Park on the New England Highway at Cooyar from 3:30pm to around 6:00pm this afternoon. The event will feature a climbing wall, a merry-go-round and fun Christmas treats and all children (and their parents) are welcome.
Saturday Line Dancing - Wooroolin
- Line dancing classes will be held at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin this morning. Classes will run from 9:00am to 10:00am (beginners) and 10:30am to 12:30pm (improvers) and a small dancing fee applies to either class. Everyone is welcome.
Nanango Mini Market
- The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $3 sausage sizzle, $1.00 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. Open Fours Bowls Carnival - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman Street in Kingaroy will be running their annual Open Fours Bowls Carnival today and tomorrow. This fun team event offers a whopping $5000 in prize monies (spread between first to seventh place-getters) and free unpowered campsites on the grounds for visitors. Today, there'll be three rounds that will kick off with morning tea at 8:00am before play begins at 9:00am, concluding with a further two games tomorrow. Registration fees are $300 per team and include morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on Saturday and breakfast and an afternoon high tea on Sunday. Everyone is welcome! More details? Animal Adoption Day - Wondai
- Karma's Place Rescue will be holding their 4th Saturday of the month Animal Adoption Day from 9:00am to 1:00pm at 36 Scott Street in Wondai. Puppies, adult dogs and young adult cats will all be available for adoption (a fee applies). Note: All animals will be flea and worm treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped before rehoming.
Amos - Linville
- Popular South Burnett entertainer Amos will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until 8:00pm this evening. - A Community Cricket Match between players from the Kilkivan and Theebine hotel crowds will be held at Weir Oval on the Wide Bay Highway north of Kilkivan from 10:00am onwards today. Guests at this free event can enjoy live entertainment, food and a licensed bar and there'll also be prizes to be won. Everyone is welcome!
South Burnett Cricket
- In South Burnett junior cricket, Stage 2 games will be played between Tingoora Vikings and Kingaroy Kookaburras at Tingoora Sportsground. Stage 3 will be between Kingaroy Cobras and Nanango Scorpions at River Road, Kingaroy. All games start at 8:00am. In the Round 8 of the South Burnett senior competition, Tingoora Huntsmen will play Tingoora Vikings at Tingoora Sportsground, Murgon Diggers will face Nanango Scorpions at Murgon Showgrounds, Kingaroy Services Orange will play Kingaroy Services Blue at Taabinga State School and Wondai Wolves will play Wooroolin Warriors at Wondai Cricket Ground. Games start at 12:30pm. In Round 7 of the Gympie A Grade One Day Competition, Murgon Crusaders will play Gympie Harlequins at Murgon Showgrounds from 12:30pm. Spectators are welcome at all games.
