2021 Kingaroy Show & Speedway

The second day of the two-day 2021 Kingaroy Show will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 8:00am this morning through until around 4:00pm this afternoon when the Kingaroy Speedway will roar into life. In addition to the usual big range of horse and cattle events, this year's Show will feature entertainment for children; Mini Horses; vintage machinery displays; a big showing of caged birds; specialty food vans; and a lot more besides. There'll also be a jaw-dropping Sideshow Alley that's always the biggest in the region. Single day tickets to today's Show are $15 for adults and $10 for children aged 12-17 (under-12s can get in for free), which include free entry to this evening's Speedway (normally $25) which kicks off at 5:00pm and runs until late. Top Of The Range Markets - Blackbutt
The people behind the annual Blackbutt Avocado Festival will be running another Top Of The Blackbutt Range Bazaar Markets from 7:00am today in the grounds of the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt. These impressive boutique markets will feature locally handmade products and fresh produce - including avocados! - along with live music from 9:00am ("Bands at the Butt") - and are being run as a fundraiser for this year's festival. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission.
Bantam Show - Murgon
The Murgon and District Bantam Club will be holding its annual Bantam Show at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street today. All birds will be in their pens by 8:30am with judging to start at 9:00am under the stewardship of Adam Jannusch from Kingsthorpe. There'll be all sorts of bantams on display - both soft feather and hard feather varieties - along with a canteen serving breakfast, morning teas and lunches, with free coffee and tea available all day along with free admission. Exhibitors are coming from all over south east Queensland, and everyone is welcome.
Linville Markets
The monthly Linville Markets will be held at Linville Hall in George Street from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets offer a variety of stalls, along with a breakfast BBQ. New stallholders are always welcome, too. More details? Phone 0402-845-186.
Big Rosella Festival - Woolooga
The second (and final) day of the weekend-long Big Rosella Festival will be held at Petersen's Farm at 2 Reilly Road, Woolooga from 9:00am to 3:00pm today. The festival celebrates all things connected to Rosellas and features cooking demos from guest chefs, farm tours, farm talks, food stalls, market stalls, kids activities, a local farmers market and more! Admission is just $10 for adults (children are free) and you book tickets in advance or get more information on the Festival's website or by phoning 0411-624-648.
Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Play On! - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will presenting the 4th performance of their latest production Play On!, a comedy in three acts, at their playhouse in Elk Street, Nanango at 2:00pm this afternoon (doors open 30 minutes beforehand). Tickets to today's show are just $20 per head or $15 for concessions - which includes a supper - and they can be booked online or by phoning 0497-032-528. Wondai Neighbourhood Watch
The Wondai Town and Rural Neighbourhood Watch group will be holding their regular monthly meeting from 4:00pm to about 5:30pm tonight at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street. The Country Music Friends will be holding their first Sunday of the month informal concert at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street from 1:00pm this afternoon. Bass Fishing Competition - Boondooma
The second day of Round 1 of a new-format fishing competition, the Bass Fishing Qualifier, will be held from 6:00am to around noon today at Boondooma Dam, near Proston. The entry fee to take part is $105 (with $5 going to the Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking Association), and you can booking a place or obtain more details on the competition's website
Sunday Poker - Kingaroy

Headstone Restoration Ceremony - Moore
A ceremony to mark the restoration of Moore Stonehouse pioneer Robert Williams will be held at the Moore-Linville Cemetery on Linville Road at 1:00pm this afternoon. The headstone has been restored by Brisbane Valley Heritage Trails Inc, and the ceremony will be followed by an afternmoon tea at Moore Hall. Everyone is welcome and there's no fee to attend.
Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. R&R Rail Trail Experience - Blackbutt
Blackbutt will be playing host to more than 150 extra visitors today. They'll be taking part in the 5th annual R&R Rail Trail Duathlon - a series of running and cycling athletic contests that will take place on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Competitors in the duathlon come from all over south east Queensland to participate, and racing will get underway early this morning and conclude towards lunch time. A Taste Of Ireland - Kingaroy
Celtic dance troupe "A Taste Of Ireland" will be performing at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy at 7:30pm tonight as part of the group's 2021 national tour. Tickets to the show are $75 for adults and $60 for children and they can be booked online
Dead Cow Gully Ultra - Runnymede
The inaugural Dead Cow Gully Backyard Ultramarathon will be taking place on the Walsh family's cattle property at 675 Walsh Rd, Runnymede (11km north of Nanango) from 6:45am onwards today. Runners taking part in the event need to complete a 6.7km lap of the course every hour, and the winner will be the last person left standing. Spectators and supporters are very welcome, too, and more information is available on Dead Cow Gully website Note: This event was postponed on Monday, March 29 after Brisbane was put into lockdown due to COVID concerns.
Matthew Wild - Linville
The Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville will have entertainer Matthew Wild performing at lunch (ie 11:00am to 3:00pm) today.
