Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be showcasing "More Than Sisters" which will highlight the work of Two Sisters Art studio artists Tania Corbet, Raylee Koch, Selena Stevens, Elisha Wolter, Fiona Elliott, Wendy Corstiaans and Trish Erkens across the entire three galleries. This is the first time the work of the studio has ever been exhibited at Wondai and it promises to be quite a show. Meanwhile, children from Cloyna and Windera State Schools will be exhibiting in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Nuova Scuola, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Art Gallery’s May exhibition, “All The Bees Are (Not) Dying” will be officially opened at the gallery (opposite the peanut silos in Haly Street) at 5:30pm this evening. The exhibition features works by Brisbane artists Peter Breen, Leonie Chinn, Paola Milani, Belinda Sinclair; Maleny artists Sam and Dom Chen; the Soma Lumia team and Midnight Oil founding member Jim Moginie. The exhibition is a “multi-modal reflection on the impact of climate change on Australian flora and fauna through photography, drawing, painting, print making, video and virtual reality”. Note: On Saturday (May 6), the gallery will be hosting a free Climate Change Public Forum from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in conjunction with the exhibition.
Play On! - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will presenting the 5th performance of their latest production Play On!, a comedy in three acts, at their playhouse in Elk Street, Nanango at 7:00pm this afternoon (doors open 30 minutes beforehand). Tickets to today's show are just $20 per head or $15 for concessions - which includes a supper - and they can be booked online or by phoning 0497-032-528. Note: Three other performances will be given tomorrow (2:00pm and 7:00pm) and Sunday (2:00pm).
Ringsfield Writers - Nanango
The Ringsfield Writers group will be meeting at the Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango at 11:00am this morning. Members of the group review and critique each others' writing in a positive way, and aspiring new writers are very welcome. More details? Email Janice
2021 Kingaroy Eisteddfod
The 2021 Kingaroy Eisteddfod will get under way at 7:45am today at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre (in the grounds of Kingaroy State High School). Today's program will feature school bands and choirs and will wrap up at 3:00pm. This is the first time the Eisteddfod has featured bands and choirs at KPAC. The Eisteddfod is running from May 6 to May 15. Spectators are very welcome to attend any (or all) sessions. Cost is $5:00 for adults or $3:00 for pensioners / students for each session (morning, afternoon or evening).
Line Dancing - Yarraman
Weekly line dancing classes will be held the Community Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman from 9:00am to noon this morning. Class fees are $5 and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone 0422-889-530.
Biggest Morning Tea - Kingaroy
Centacare will be holding an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ Biggest Morning Tea at the Biscuit Tin at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy (behind the church hall) from 9:30am to 11:30am this morning as a fundraiser for the Queensland Cancer Council. For just $3, guests can get to enjoy a great morning tea and games. And with Mother's Day coming up on Sunday, there'll be a special gift for any mums that come along as well. Friday Croquet - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Croquet Club will be playing croquet games at the rear of the Kingaroy Cricket Club in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (just next to Beangrowers) from 9:00am to around 11:30am this morning. The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. Open Mic Night At The Palace - Nanango
The Palace Hotel in Fitzroy Street, Nanango will be hosting an Open Mic Night with the Mr Q Acustic Duo from 7:30pm until late tonight. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
