New Years Day Public Holiday
Today is New Years Day, a public holiday, and most South Burnett businesses will either be closed today or operating on restricted hours.
Yarraman New Year's Day Festival
Yarraman will be ringing in the New Year with a four-hour News Years Day Festival at the Errol Munt Recreation Grounds off the New England Highway just west of the CBD from 5:00pm until 9:00pm this evening. The Festival will feature lots of great family fun including live music; market stalls; a licensed bar; hot food and beverages; and a range of inexpensive amusement rides for children including jumping castles, a slide, a climbing rock wall and dodgem cars (rides are $10 for 5 rides or $20 for an unlimited rides armband). Fire-fighting superhero Blazer The Bear will be putting in an appearance at 6:00pm too. The Festival is run by the Yarraman Progress Association and co-sponsored by Toowoomba Regional Council. Everyone is welcome and admission is free!
New Year's Day Seafood Platter Lunch - Wondai
Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street, Wondai will be holding an all-you-can-eat New Year's Day Seafood Platter Lunch from noon to 2:00pm today. The $35 per head lunch will feature a great assortment of freshly-caught seafoods straight from the coast, along with non-seafood options for those who prefer them, plus desserts, tea, coffee and soft drinks (guests are also welcome to BYO). However, places are limited so a booking is absolutely essential. You can make one by phoning Chef Graham on (07) 4168-5744.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Proston
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Proston every Wednesday from 6:00pm at the old railway station at Railway Park in Rodney Street. For more information, phone 0427-137-140.
