Back To Kumbia Weekend
The Kumbia community is celebrating the completion of its hall restumping project this weekend with a special "Back To Kumbia" event. At 9:30am today, a combined church service will rededicate the hall as a Veterans' Memorial and community meeting place. This will be followed at 10:00am, by the official unveiling of the Buy A Stump Donor Board and book. Around the Hall Precinct, in the Gordon Street park and fire station area, there'll be displays and events including a ute muster competition, muster dogs, whip cracking, a hay bale maze plus lots more. There'll also be reunion tents for past clubs - so old friends can catch up!- a licensed bar and food stalls. An old-time dance, with music by The Diamonds, will be held in the hall from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, followed by a free concert from 7:00pm to 8:30pm by the Australian Army Band. Heritage NananGO PLAYfest
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting Day 2 of their three-day 2025 Heritage NananGO PLAYfest one-act play competition at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 9:00am this morning. The event is fully accessible, fully catered (with a bar) and is just $10 per session (three plays) or $40 for the whole weekend (15 plays). A weekend family ticket is $100 (two adults and three children). An optional three-course dinner is also available tonight for $30. Tickets can be booked online. Competition winners will be announced on Sunday afternoon.
Nanango Country Markets
- The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Ringsfield House Open Day - Nanango
- Historic Ringsfield House, 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango, is hosting an Open Day today! Local artists will be featured in the art gallery from 9:00am to 12:30pm, plus tea and scones will be available on the verandah for $10.00 per person from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Bull & Bronc Rodeo - Cooyar
The Cooyar Hotel, at 35 McDougall Street, is holding the Hank McArthur Memorial Bullride from 5:00pm this evening. The National Rodeo Association event also features categories for novices and junior bull riders as well as bareback riders. During the break, the Cooyar Hotel's famous "horizontal bungee" competition will take place! There'll be live music by Riley Young, hot food and a canteen will be available as well as free camping! Wondai Endurance Ride
- The Dingo Creek Endurance & Community club is hosting three rides today in the Wondai area. The base camp will be at the Wondai Showgrounds. There's a 20km introductory ride, a 40km training ride and an 80km endurance ride. For more information, phone Natalie on 0429-641-510.
Pig On The Spit Night - Wooroolin
The Grand Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin will be holding their monthly Pig On A Spit Night from 5:30pm until late this evening. Apart from a great roast pork meal there'll also be a Lucky Door prize, raffles and live music. Tickets are $32.50 for adults, $21 for pensioners, $16 for high school students and $10 for primary school children (U5s are free). Junior Soccer - Kingaroy
The semi-finals in the South Burnett Junior Soccer competition will be played today at the Kingaroy Junior Soccer Fields. In Under 12/13s, at 8:30am, Nanango Panthers Blue v Barambah Connollys State Waste Bears and at 10:00am, Nanango Panthers White v Kingaroy McDonalds. The winners of these games will meet each other in next Saturday's Grand Final. In Cadets, at 11:30am, Barambah Raffin Electrical Bears v Kingaroy Refrigeration (winner to the Grand Final) and at 12:01pm Kingaroy CTC Mechanical v loser of the previous game (winner to the Grand Final). The Grand Finals in both U12/13s and Cadets will be played on September 13 at Kingaroy.
Deal'n & DJ BRZ43 - Kingaroy
Deal'n will be back playing live in the beer garden at the Commercial Hotel, on the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy, from 8:00pm tonight; while DJ BRZ43 will be spinning in the Sports Bar from 8:00pm. Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell

IN2XS Plus Icehouse Tribute Show - Nanango
INXS tribute band IN2XS and Icehouse tribute band Electric Blue will be playing at the Commercial Hotel, 69 Drayton Street, Nanango, tonight.
