Wondai Spring Garden Expo
The first day of the weekend long Wondai Spring Garden Expo will be held at the Wondai Sportsgrounds off the Bunya Highway, just north of Wondai's CBD, from 8:00am to 4:30pm today. The Expo is one of the largest gardening shows of its type in south-east Queensland and always draws hundreds of keen gardeners every September. As well as a huge range of plant and garden-related product displays, the Expo will also feature a number of guest speakers talking on a variety of gardening topics throughout the day. There'll be plenty of food and drink available, too. Admission is $5 per day or a two-day pass for $8 (under 15s free). Kingaroy Swimming Club Sign-On Day
The Kingaroy Redfins will be holding their sign-on day from noon to 2:00pm today at the WJ Lang Memorial Swimming Pool (aka the Kingaroy pool!) on the corner of William and Alford streets, Kingaroy. More information is available on the club's Facebook page
Wondai Hotel Re-Opening
The historic Wondai Hotel, at 35 Haly Street, Wondai, had a "soft" re-opening on Thursday but the big celebration of a return to trading is today! The doors will open at 10:00am. The kitchen will be open for lunch from 11:30am to 2:00pm; and for dinner from 5:00pm. Fun With Photos - Murgon
The new Fun With Photos group will be meeting from 9:30amthis morning at the Queensland Dairy and Heritage Museum, 2 Sommerville Street, Murgon. Angel Flight Weekend - Woolooga
The annual two-day charity trail ride weekend to raise funds for Angel Flight will begin at 'Turavale', 3257 Bauple-Woolooga Road, Woolooga, at 8:00am this morning. The ride will cover a loop of about 23km, with smoko and lunch available along the way. Cost is $40 for adults and $25 for children (under 18). (No stallions, donkeys, dogs or carts allowed.) But the weekend is much bigger than this ... there'll also be live music, an auction, raffles and free camping. Food trucks will be on site both Saturday and Sunday night for dinner, and breakfast will also be available both days. The general public is also invited to come along and enjoy the fun! More info? Churchyard Op Shop Markets - Nanango
The Anglican Churchyard Op Shop, at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be open from 7:30am to around 11:30am today. There'll be stalls selling plants, craftwork, books, bric-a-brac and lots more, as well as a $3 sausage sizzle and tea and coffee for a gold coin donation. Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Saturday Night Bingo - Kingaroy

Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Yarraman Holistic Markets

The Kilkivan Hotel, at 19 Bligh Street, will be hosting an Elvis Tribute Performance from 8:00pm this evening. Pig On The Spit Night - Maidenwell
The Maidenwell Hotel's popular monthly Pig On A Spit Night will be running from 6:00pm until late this evening with live music by MISfITZ from 7:00pm to late. Guests can get stuck into more pork than they can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots and gravy. Nanango Dog Show
The Nanango Kennel Club is hosting a huge two-day dog show at the Nanango Showgrounds this weekend from 8:30am this morning. There will be more than 350 dogs entered in seven different categories. Visitors are welcome to come along to watch and entry to the showgrounds is free. A canteen will also be operating.
Go Getta Girls - Kingaroy

Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. The BBQs will also be firing up from around 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters.
