2025 Wondai Country Running Festival The first day of the weekend-long, family friendly Wondai Country Running Festival will be held in and around Wondai's CBD and along the South Burnett Rail Trail today. The festival will kick off early at 7:00am and will incorporate a bumper Wondai markets (see below), several Fun Runs/Walks, and two McEuen Forest Trail Runs this afternoon. The day will be capped off by a licensed Wondai Country Running Festival Dinner at Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street that will get under way around 5:45pm tonight. Tomorrow the Festival will conclude with a 10km Rail Trail run, a half marathon and a gruelling full 42km marathon along the South Burnett Rail Trail. You can get the complete program on our website.
Wondai Country Markets
- The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's Wondai Country Markets - held on the fourth Saturday of every month - will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to about noon this morning. The markets feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans. The BBQs will also be firing up from around 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed), and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
Phillipine Independence Sports Celebration - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Filipino-Australian Caring Group is celebrating the 128th Phillipine Independence Day with two big days of sporting activities in Kingaroy and Nanango. The opening ceremony will be held at 8:30am this morning at the Mary Knoll Centre (in the grounds of Saint Mary's Catholic College in Kingaroy) with prayers, singing and dancing. There'll be basketball games from 10:00am to 6:00pm at St Mary's and St John's schools in Kingaroy; and volley ball at Nanango State High School. For the less athletic, there'll be chess and a tug-o-war in Kingaroy. This evening there'll be a special dinner from 6:30pm at the Kingaroy Red Ants clubhouse in Youngman Street with more singing and dancing. The sports events will continue tomorrow.
CWA Lead & Silver Recycling - Kumbia
- The Kumbia CWA will be collecting items for recycling from 8:00am to 11:00am this morning at their rooms at 38 Bell Street, Kumbia. Items sought include old electric fence and vehicle batteries and old X-ray films are coated with silver (just de-identify them!). This as an opportunity to remove lead batteries from your property, help the Kumbia branch of the CWA to raise funds and enjoy morning tea! If you have too many batteries to load - and you live nearby - contact the Kumbia CWA by phoning 0475-623-341 or by email and they will arrange for someone to collect them!
Elegant Afternoon Tea - Murgon

Australian Rules - Kingaroy
Australian Rules will be back at Kingaroy’s Lyle Vidler Oval today for the club's Pink Ribbon Ladies Day. Saints' sides will be facing teams from the Toowoomba Tigers: 10:00am Under 13.5s, 11:30am Under 15.5s, 1:00pm Women, and 2:45pm Men. After the games, a special SaintsChella function will get under way with grazing tables, live music by Natalie Fenton and a punch bar. Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
CANCELLED The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Narcotics Anonymous - Kingaroy
