102nd Annual Murgon Show

The main day of the 102nd annual Murgon Show will be held at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street from 7:00am this morning (when the gates open) until it finishes with a bang late tonight. This year's Show features a cutting horse competition, cattle judging, poultry and dog trials. There'll also be a big Sideshow Alley; and lots and lots of pavilion and trade exhibits (open from 8:00am). The Murgon Show will be officially opened about noon in front of the grandstand, followed by the Grand Parade. Other things to look out for this year include a Fashion Parade, a Farm Animal Nursery and a Camel Rides. And, of course, the Rodeo is back on Saturday night this year, starting at 4:00pm! During a break in the rodeo, there'll also be Fireworks that will light up the sky at about 7:00pm and an auction. Admission to this year's Show is $15 for adults; $10 for concessions and students aged 10 to 17 (U10s are free); or $45 for a family (2 adults plus 2 children). More details? Youth Council Expo & Talent Show - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Youth Council has organised a huge FREE fun day for the community in Kingaroy's Memorial Park from 11:00am to 5:00pm today. There'll be stalls, activities, a talent show (with prizes!), workshops and spectacular BMX shows by JC Action Sports at 11:30am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The monthly Kingaroy Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets, which are held on the third Saturday of every month, feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome.
Rockin Our Abilities Concert - Murgon
The Rockin Our Abilities music/drama program for people with disabilities will be presenting their big mid-year concert at Murgon Town Hall this morning. Doors open at 10:30am with the concert beginning at 11:00am. Everyone is welcome! Entry by gold coin donation, and there'll be raffles and a lucky door prize.
Socceroos Watch Party - Kingaroy
South Burnett soccer fans eager to watch the Socceroos take on the United States should roll up at the Kingaroy Senior Soccer Clubhouse at 5:00am today at Tom Alford Oval for a special "watch party" to cheer on the Aussies! The match will be projected on to a wall at the club.
Pink Ants Rugby League Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Red Ants will be hosting their annual Pink Day fundraiser for Cancer Council Queensland at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, today. Round robin junior games for will get under way at 8:00am. There'll be games for U6s, U8s, U10s, U12s, U43kgs and Under 35kgs. At 11:20am, an U14 game between Kingaroy and Nanango will be played, followed at 12:30pm by U16s, South Burnett Eagles v Gatton; and at 1:30pm, U15/16s, South Burnett Eagles v Gatton. Three A Grade games are also scheduled in the afternoon: 2:40pm, Nanango v Wondai; 4:10pm, Kingaroy v Blackbutt; and at 5:40pm, Cherbourg v Murgon.
Proston Community Markets
The monthly Proston Community Markets - held on the 3rd Saturday of each month - will be running outside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 7:30am this morning. Stalls feature handmade crafts, baking, gifts, plants and bric-a-brac. There'll also be a barbecue, morning tea and hot and cold drinks available. Karaoke Competition - Nanango

Speedway Trophy Dinner - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Speedway Club will be holding its annual trophy presentations from 5:30pm today at the Kingaroy Bowls Club. There will be barefoot bowls plus a two-course meal and trophy presentations from 6:30pm. Tickets are $40 for adults and can be booked online. A licensed bar will also be open.
Moore Hall Markets
The monthly Moore Markets will be held in the Moore Soldiers Memorial Hall off the D'Aguilar Highway in Moore from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon today. The markets are held on the 3rd Saturday of every month and feature crafts, toys, bric-a-brac, clothes and collectibles. Food and drinks will also be available for sale. Everyone is welcome!
Movie Afternoon - Linville
The Linville Progress Association is hosting a free movie screening from 4:30pm this afternoon at the Linville Community Hall. Today's movie is the 1986 comedy "Three Amigos", starring Steve Martin and Chevy Chase. Light refreshments will be provided and everyone is welcome!
RYZA - Kingaroy

Nanango Men's Shed

Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) today. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather. NB.
