2025 Blackbutt Show

The 91st annual Blackbutt Show will be held at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 5:30am this morning (when the gates open for competitors) until 11:30pm tonight. This year's Show will feature cattle and poultry along with the popular woodchopping and chainsawing competitions; lots of ring events (including a working dog demonstration); a dog show and plenty of fun for children including face painting and a baby animal farm. As usual the Show will also feature a great spread of pavilion exhibits; sideshow alley; showbags; and trade displays. And after dark there'll also be a fireworks display at 7:30pm followed by live entertainment. Admission is $15.00 for adults or $5.00 for high school students and pensioners (children under 12 are admitted free).
Nanango Autumn Races
Racing is back at Nanango! And entry today will be free!! The recently reformed Nanango Race Club will be holding its Autumn Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway in Racecourse Road, just south of Nanango, from about noon to 6:00pm today. There'll be seven races plus all the regular features will be back, including the licensed bar, race club canteen, a busy bookmakers' ring and an on-course tote. Free buses to the track will also be running: pick-up at noon at the Glendon Street bus stop in Kingaroy and 12:30pm at the Scott Car Park in Nanango. There's also plenty of undercover seating and lots of parking on course. NB. There's no ATM on course, so bring case!
Fun With Painting - Kingaroy
Jumping Ant Arts members are hosting a series of workshops in conjunction with their Antfest 2025 exhibition at Kingaroy Art Gallery. Today, they'll be having fun with painting from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the gallery (opposite the peanut silos in Haly Street). Cost is $5 but bookings are essential. Open Mike Night - Tableland Hall
As part of their ongoing centenary celebrations, the Tableland Hall Committee will be holding an open microphone night from 5:00pm this evening at Tableland Hall, 459 Crownthorpe Road, Tablelands. Budding musicians plus old hands are invited to have a go! All music genres are encouraged. There'll be a food van on site plus a licensed bar will be open and cold drinks will be available to buy. Entry is $5 (plus donations are welcome) with proceeds to support the Murgon Hospital Auxiliary. The featured band will be Jake (aka Lyle Goschnick, Bill Horstmann and Allan Schulz) so bring along your dancing shows!
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Proston Country Markets
The monthly Proston Community Markets - held on the 3rd Saturday of each month - will be running outside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 8:00am this morning. Stalls feature everything from baked goods and gifts to plants and bric-a-brac. There'll also be a sausage sizzle, BBQ, tea and coffee available. Proston Men's Shed

Rugby League - Murgon
The Murgon Mustangs will be hosting their annual Domestic Violence Awareness Round from 8:00am this morning at Murgon Showgrounds. Round robin junior games will be played all day across six fields. There'll also be several South Burnett sides in action: 11:00am SB U35kg v SB Open Weight U10s; 11:40am SB U43kg v SB Zone 4 U12s; Noon SB U13 Girls v Hervey Bay; and 1:15pm SB U15 Girls v Hervey Bay. South Burnett Rugby League competition games will also be played: at 12:20pm Chinchilla will take on Nanango in Under 14s followed at 1:20pm by another Under 14s game, between Murgon v Kingaroy. Two A Grade games will also be played: At 2:20pm Murgon v Cherbourg followed at 4:00pm by Kingaroy v Wondai.
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome.
