Kingaroy BaconFest - Big Bacon Breakfast
Day 2 of the 2025 Kingaroy BaconFest festival will get under way at 7:00am today at Kingaroy's Memorial Park with a Big Bacon Breakfast. The ticket price of $11.80 (under 5s are free) includes a bacon and egg burger and juice. There’ll also be market stalls and live entertainment (BYO chair or picnic rug). The breakfast fun will wrap up at 9:00am. If you want to stay and catch all the rest of the festival – including the main concert tonight – brekkie tickets are $43.05 for adults, $37.95 (concession), $11.80 for children (aged 5-14) and under 5s are free. Big Bacon Breakfast tickets can be booked online. Visitors will also be able to make use of a free shuttle bus which will be making regular loops around Kingaroy from 6:00am to 9:00pm, stopping off at the Kingaroy Showground, local motels and the Visitor Information Centre.
Kingaroy BaconFest - The Main Event
The main BaconFest festival will begin at 10:00am today in Kingaroy's Memorial Park and run until 9:00pm.There’ll be entertainment on the main stage all day, starting with the Kingaroy State High School Stage Band at 10:00am and finishing with local band RYZA at 8:00pm. Country music superstar Troy Cassar-Daley is scheduled to hit the microphone at 6:30pm. All the regular BaconFest favourites will be happening, including the bacon-eating competition (select the bacon-eating option when booking your BaconFest ticket), the Australian Barbecue Alliance Sunpork smoke-off, celebrity chef demonstrations and children’s activities – including an inflatable obstacle course, a jumping castle, face-painting and lots of other activities. This year’s celebrity chefs are Alastair McLeod and 2024 My Kitchen Rules winner Simone Prest. Basketball fans will also get the chance to see another celebrity in action … former NBA star Nathan Jawai (ex-Minnesota Timberwolves and Cairns Taipans) who will be running free basketball workshops on the Council courts in Memorial Park (just outside the BaconFest precinct – pass-outs will be available) at 11:30am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Tickets to BaconFest alone (10:00am to 9:00pm) are $37.95 for adults, $32.80 (concession) and free for children 14 and under. Tickets can be booked online
Scots In The Bush Festival - Boondooma
Day 4 of this year's Scots In The Bush Scottish and Celtic Festival will be held at Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Mundubbera-Durong Road at Boondooma today. The Festival - the largest of its kind in Queensland - features Scottish pipe bands and dancers, folk singers and poets as well as Scottish food, games and much more. Everyone who loves Celtic culture are invited to come along and listen to the skirl of the pipes, the beat of the drums and the swirl of the kilts! Special guests this year include Australian Celtic Women, Brian Letton, Clyde Cameron, Dr Heather Clarke (Ceilidh), the Hervey Bay Pipe Band, Ishka Celtic Music, Maryborough Musos Ukulele, the Moreton Celtic Fiddle Club, Mouldy Haggis, the Noosa & District Pipe Band, Rum City Highland Dancers, Tom Kimmet, Gary Fogarty and Paddy O'Brien. Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome. NB. For today only, please enter via Gate 6 (opposite Lyle Vidler Oval).
Peter Shurley - Kingaroy

Rugby League - Blackbutt
The South Burnett Rugby League's A Grade and Under 14s finals series begins today at Ian "Bunny" Pearce Oval in Railway Street, Blackbutt. At 9:30am in Under 14s, Murgon will play Kingaroy in the Minor Semi-Final. At 10:55am, Nanango will face Chinchilla in the Under 14s Major Semi-Final. In A Grade, at 12:20pm, Wondai Wolves will play the Murgon Mustangs in the sudden-death Minor Semi-Final; while at 2:15pm, the Cherbourg Hornets will tackle the Kingaroy Red Ants in the Major Semi-Final. The winners of the two Major Semi-Finals will go straight through to Grand Finals on August 30, while the losers will play the winners of the Minor Semi-Finals in Preliminary Finals on August 23. Entry to the grounds is $5.
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Saturday Night Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Senior Citizen's club hosts bingo every Saturday evening from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Kingaroy Town Common Hall in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy. Everyone is welcome! More info? Phone Ellen on 0478-607-054.
Proston Country Market
CANCELLED The monthly Proston Community Markets - held on the 3rd Saturday of each month - will be running outside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 8:00am this morning. Stalls feature crafts, plants as well as gifts and bric-a-brac. There'll also be a raffle, sausage sizzle and hot and cold drinks. All stalls welcome!
Hard Yakka - Kingaroy
Local pub rock band Hard Yakka will playing at the Commercial Hotel, on the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 8:00pm until 11:30pm tonight plus a DJ will be spinning tracks in the Sports Bar. Kingaroy State School is hosting a "Pop Into Prep" Teddy Bears Picnic from 9:30am today at the school at 41 Markwell Street, Kingaroy. The day will allow parents and carers of potential 2026 prep students to meet the staff and learn about the school's prep program.
Cutting Horse Competition - Goomeri
Today is Day 2 of the three-day competition organised by the Southern Queensland Cutting Horse Association at the Goomeri Showgrounds. A canteen will be available for breakfast and lunch and a licensed bar will also be operating. There are events for novices, beginners, juniors, rookies and amateurs with cash prizes.
