Vintage Hitchcock - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company is presenting a (very) limited run of Joe Landry's play "Vintage Hitchcock - A Live Radio Play" this weekend at their playhouse on the corner of Elk and George streets, Nanango. The play takes the form of a 1950s radio broadcast (complete with sound effects, jingles and ads) with performers acting out three of Alfred Hitchcock's early stories: The Lodger, Sabotage and The 39 Steps. Tickets are $25 (or $20 concession) and can be booked online. There will be two performances today: a 2:00pm matinee and an evening show from 7:00pm. There'll also be a matinee on Sunday.
Nanango Handmade Christmas Markets
The two-day Nanango Handmade Markets - hosted by NaTDA - will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm today and 10:00am to 2:00pm tomorrow at the Nanango Cultural Centre, in George Street, Nanango. There will be local stalls selling handmade items, perfect for Christmas shopping! The Kingaroy QCWA will have sweets, sandwiches and tea for sale, and there will also be a coffee van in attendance. All money raised will support the South Burnett Breast Care nurse.
Pop-Up Market - Mondure
A pop-up market will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm this evening at the Mondure Hall in McConnell Way. There'll be secondhand stalls; cake, craft and plant stalls. More info? Phone Andrea on 0417-745-609.
South Burnett Cricket
The South Burnett Cricket Association senior and junior games will be played today at locations across the South Burnett. In Round 6 of the Senior competition, Murgon Diggers v Wondai Wolves at Murgon Showgrounds; Nanango Scorpions v Kingaroy Services at Alan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango; and Saints v Wooroolin Warriors at Taabinga State School. All South Burnett Senior games start at 12:30pm. In the Junior Stage 2 competition, Murgon will take on Kingaroy Kookaburras at Kingaroy State School; and Nanango Scorpions Purple will face Nanango Scorpions Yellow at River Road Oval, Kingaroy. In Stage 3, Nanango v Kingaroy, at Taabinga State School. All junior games start at 8:00am. In the Gympie A Grade competition, Wooroolin Warriors v Gympie Royals at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy (game starts at 11:00am); and Murgon Crusaders v Harlequins at Murgon Showgrounds (game starts at 12:30pm). In the Dalby competition, Tingoora Vikings will play Criterions at Tingoora Sportsground from noon.
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome.
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Barambah Shed Men - Byee
All men and young blokes have been invited to the 56th meeting of the Barambah Shed Men, which will be held this afternoon at Russell Bishop's Shed at 'Byefields', 672 Silverleaf Road, Byee (follow Silverleaf Rd for about 7km from the Bunya Highway). This meeting's guest speakers will be Russell and Western Queensland pastoralist Josh Phelps. Everything will get under way at 4:00pm and the $15 cost includes a meal, dessert, soft drinks and tea/coffee (under 15s are free). Community Update - Bunya Mountains
The Bunya Peoples Aboriginal Corporation will be holding a community update day from 9:00am to 1:30pm today at their HQ at 30 Tolmie Street to present an overview of BPAC's activities and discuss issues such as biosecurity and cultural burns. RSVP by email by November 5.
Go Getta Girls - Kingaroy
