South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Murgon Music Muster
It's back for 2025! Today is Day 5 of the six-day Murgon Music Muster at the Murgon PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon. Invited guest artists - which this year include Allan Caswell, Brendan Radford, Lindsay Waddington, Paul Ricketts, Dean Perrett, Amber Goldsmith, Alice Benfer, Clyde Cameron, Lloyd Back and Clarrie Weller - will be taking to the stage today. Entry fees for this year's Muster are $70 per person for a four-day pass covering Thursday to Sunday; or $45 for today only. Entry for Sunday's Gospel session is free. Garage Sale - Nanango
Nanango State School P&C will be hosting a fundraising garage sale and bake sale from 7:00am to 10:30am today in the schoolgrounds in Drayton Street, Nanango. There'll also be school furniture and equipment for sale. Cash and EFTPOS will be available.
Comedy For A Cause - Blackbutt
Three international comedy festival comedians - Craig Quartermaine, Mike Van Acker and Joshua Coutinho - will be bringing their comedy show to the Blackbutt Memorial Hall this evening as a fundraiser for the Blackbutt & Benarkin Aged Care Association's "Greenhills Villas Project". Tickets are $35 per head or $55 which includes a picnic box meal and drinks voucher). Doors at open at 5:30pm with live music provided by Warren Gould. The official opening will be at 6:00pm. The comedy show will start at 7:30pm. There'll also be auctions and raffles. Tickets can be booked online
30th Annual Kumbia Brain Drain
The 30th Annual Kumbia Brain Drain will be held at Kumbia Hall on the Bunya Highway in Kumbia from 5:30pm until late tonight. This event - a major annual fundraiser for Kumbia State School P&C - is a trivia-style tournament where teams of six compete for great cash prizes. As usual, guests at this year's Brain Drain are encouraged to dress to this year's theme ("A Night At The Races") to be in the running for great prizes. There'll also be prizes for round winners, the best dressed team, the best team name as well as the overall winners, with the usual fun-filled audience participation games and raffles. Admission is $240 per table of six. Tables can be booked online. NB. This is a 15 years event.
Cent Auction - Nanango
The Nanango Hospital Auxiliary will be holding its annual cent auction today at Tara's Hall (next door to the Nanango RSL Club in Henry Street). Doors open at 11:30am with the auction starting at 1:00pm. Morning tea / coffee and biscuits will be available. Admission is $5:00, which includes a free sheet and a lucky door ticket.
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to 11:30am today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Ringsfield House Open Day - Nanango
Historic Ringsfield House, 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango, is hosting an Open Day today! Local artists will be featured in the art gallery from 9:00am to 12:30pm, plus tea and scones will be available on the verandah for $10.00 per person from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Archery Muster - Nanango
The Barambah Bowhunters and Field Archers Association will be holding Day 2 of their three-day Traditional Archery Australia National Muster at their archery range at Bow Hunters Road, off the D'Aguilar Highway (south of Nanango's CBD) today. Archers will be coming from all over Queensland to take part, and spectators are very welcome to watch from the clubhouse. The canteen will be open all days. Free camping is also available onsite. Red Ant Round-Up - Kingaroy
The annual Red Ant Round-Up medical conference will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall today. The conference is organised by the Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN and since it routinely attracts medical professionals from all over the region and beyond, accommodation in Kingaroy might be in short supply this weekend.
Proston Khanacross
Proston Car Rally Club will be holding Day 1 of their weekend-long Proston Khanacross at their race track today (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston at 757 Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will start at 9:30am and wrap up towards nightfall, when there'll also be a burnout competition after dark from 6:00pm. Competitors come from all over Queensland and spectators are very welcome to watch the drivers pushing their vehicles to the limit! The canteen will be open all weekend. Pig On The Spit Night - Wooroolin
The Grand Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin will be holding their monthly Pig On A Spit Night from 5:30pm until late this evening. Apart from a great roast pork meal there'll also be a Lucky Door prize, raffles and live music by Natalie Fenton.
