Almost 40 volunteer organisations in the South Burnett will share more than $129,000 in funding under the latest round of the Federal Government’s Volunteer Grants Program.

“The grants will enable community organisations to purchase vital, practical pieces of equipment for use by volunteers,” Member for Wide Bay Mr Warren Truss said.

“The Volunteers Grants Program supports local communities by helping volunteers to help others.

“The grants will be used by volunteer organisations to purchase equipment, support training, or pay fuel bills or transport costs, to make the work of volunteers a little bit easier.

“Volunteers undertake a range of activities and perform a wide variety of tasks, making an enormous difference to the lives of countless Australians.

“Volunteers freely give of their time, expertise and resources to help others in the community, so it is important that the Federal Government continues to support their work through the Volunteers Grants Program.”

“I congratulate the volunteer organisations on the success of their applications and thank all volunteers for their efforts in making their communities better.”
