A little rain – well, actually a lot of rain – couldn’t stop the annual President’s Cup women’s soccer game being played in Kingaroy last Friday.

While the hardy spectators huddled under the awning at the Kingaroy Senior Soccer Clubhouse, the Nanango Panthers and Kingaroy Wests women battled it out on Tom Alford Oval.

Wests were trailing the competition leaders Panthers 3-0 at half-time, although they had one goal attempt disallowed.

The home side fired up in the second half to score two goals but couldn’t find the equaliser in an exciting game.

When the final whistle sounded, Nanango was ahead 3-2.

Round 7 of the South Burnett women’s competition will be back at Tom Alford Oval this Friday night: at 7:45pm, Kingaroy Easts will take on Kingaroy Wests under lights.

The canteen will be open for dinner and snacks.
