DTMR have released a list of the roads they’ll be carrying out flood repairs on over the next two years

The Department of Transport and Main Roads has released details of flood repairs which will be undertaken on local roads over the next 12 months.

The aim is to make the targeted sites more resilient to future severe weather events and to protect roads from flood damage.

Works will include culvert repairs and pavement rehabilitation as well as other flood repairs.

In the South Burnett Regional Council area, flood repair work was scheduled to begin in late 2023, and take about 12 months to complete, on the following roads:

  • D’Aguilar Highway (Kilcoy-Yarraman)
  • D’Aguilar Highway (Yarraman-Kingaroy)
  • Burnett Highway (Nanango-Goomeri)
  • Bunya Highway (Dalby-Kingaroy)
  • Bunya Highway (Kingaroy-Goomeri)
  • Kingaroy-Cooyar Road
  • Chinchilla-Wondai Road
  • Kingaroy-Burrandowan Road
  • Nanango-Tarong Road
  • Mundubbera-Durong Road
  • Wondai-Proston Road
  • Murgon-Barambah Road
  • Murgon-Gayndah Road
  • Kilcoy-Murgon Road
  • Bunya Mountains Road
  • Maidenwell-Bunya Mountains Road
  • Kingaroy-Barkers Creek Road
  • Memerambi-Gordonbrook Road
  • Proston-Boondooma Road
  • Okeden Road
  • Byee Road

As well, betterment work has been scheduled on concrete batters at Barambah Creek on the Burnett Highway.

In the Gympie Regional Council area flood repair work was scheduled to begin in 2024, and take about 12 months to complete, for the following roads:

  • Burnett Highway (Nanango-Goomeri)
  • Burnett Highway (Goomeri-Gayndah)
  • Wide Bay Highway (Gympie-Goomeri)
  • Murgon-Gayndah Road
  • Kilkivan-Tansey Road
  • Brooweena-Woolooga Road
  • Bauple-Woolooga Road
  • Kilcoy-Murgon Road
  • Gympie-Woolooga Road

As well, betterment work has been schedued for:

  • Burnett Highway (Nanango-Goomeri) – Road rehabilitation and concrete batter protection
  • Bauple-Woolooga Road – additional abutment and batter protection at Wide Bay Creek
  • Murgon-Gayndah Road – concrete batter protection
  • Wide Bay Highway (Gympie-Goomeri) – Additional batter protection upstream of abutment to protect from high-velocity flows from the Mary River at Bells Bridge
