South Burnett Regional Council is offering a free workshop designed to show residents how to turn food scraps into fertiliser rather than wasting them as landfill.

“Turning food waste into compost can help your garden as well as the environment,” a spokesperson said.

“Around half of the average wheelie bin is organic material, which can negatively impact the environment when sent to landfill.”

The Introduction to Composting and Worm Farming community workshop will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall on Wednesday, June 15, from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

The workshop is free but bookings are essential.
