South Burnett Regional Council has organised a free compost and worm farming workshop for local residents.

Residents have been invited to learn how to establish and maintain a backyard compost bin or worm farm.

According to the SBRC, about half of the waste generated by the average Australian household is organic waste (garden and food waste), the majority of which could be diverted from landfill by composting or worm farming at home.

Composting organic household waste is not just beneficial for the environment but also for your backyard.

The high quality, natural fertiliser made at home will improve soil fertility and water retention and give plants a natural boost.

The workshop will be held from 3:30pm to 5:30pm in the Kingaroy Town Hall Reception Room in Glendon Street on Thursday, November 7.

The workshop is free to members of the South Burnett community but registrations are required as places are limited.
