Tickets will go on sale next week for the annual Mayor’s Community Luncheon at Kingaroy Town Hall … and you’d better get in early as there is a special speaker booked for the occasion.

Guest speaker will be former Test player and State of Origin legend Shane Webcke.

Webcke, who spent his whole club career playing  for the Broncos, represented Australia in 26 tests and donned a Maroon jersey 24 times.

He retired from NRL football at the end of the 2006 season.

His final game for the Broncos was the club’s Grand Final victory against the Melbourne Storm where he set up Darren Lockyer for a field goal which put the game out of the southerners’ reach.

These days Webcke is a much sought-after dinner speaker, concentrating on his career, men’s health and workplace safety.

The Mayor’s Community Luncheon will be held from noon on Friday, November 22.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Sue Dowideit-Reiger and the Kingaroy State High School choir.

Mayor Keith Campbell said all proceeds from the lunch will be converted into food vouchers and donated to South Burnett families in need.

Tickets can be purchased from next Wednesday (October 30) at any South Burnett Regional Council customer service centre.

Or pay at the door on the day, but please RSVP to Bronwyn Barry by email before November 18.

Tickets are just $25.
