Murgon police have charged seven people with drug offences after recent searches of homes and vehicles.

  • March 1 – About 8:30am, police attended a home in Jerome Street, Cherbourg. A 21-year-old Cherbourg man and a 21-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear in the Cherbourg Magistrates Court on March 21, charged with possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils.
  • March 3 – About noon, police stopped a vehicle in Gore Street, Murgon.  A 36-year-old Tara man will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on April 2, charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils for use.
  • March 5 – About 10:50am, police searched an address in Shellytop Road at Durong. A 41-year-old Durong man and 39-year-old Durong man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on March 25 charged with possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils.
  • March 6 – About 7:00pm, police attended an address on Barber Street, Cherbourg. A 46-year-old Cherbourg woman and a 21-year-old Cherbourg woman will appear in Cherbourg Magistrates Court on April 26 charged with possessing drug utensils.

Traffic

  • March 2 – About 1:15am, police pulled over a vehicle on Stephens Street West, Murgon.  An 18-year-old Kingaroy woman will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on March 19 charged with driving over the general alcohol limit.

Thefts

  • March 2 – Between 2:30pm and 2:50pm, an unknown person entered a yard in Perkins Street, Murgon, and tried to gain entry to a shed.
  • Between 8:00pm on March 3 and 5:00pm on March 4, thieves removed louvres from a window to break into a  business in Lamb Street, Murgon.  They stole various items before damaging a lock on a door to leave.
  • March 5 – About 5:00pm, two youths attended a business on Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg, and allegedly stole multiple keys. Police have arrested one youth who has been charged and is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
  • March 6 – About 9:00am, a woman entered a business on Lamb Street, Murgon, and allegedly removed multiple items from a shelf. Police allege she paid for some items and hid others. A 27-year-old Charlestown woman will appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on April 9, charged with stealing and possessing dangerous drugs.
  • March 7 – About 5:00pm, an unknown thief entered a business on Lamb Street, Murgon, and removed an item of clothing from a shelf. The person then put the item on and left the store without making any attempt to pay.
  • March 8 – Between about 5:00pm on March 8, and 9:30pm on March 10, would-be thieves smashed windows to gain entry to a business in Lamb Street, Murgon. When the alarms were activated they ran off. Police later arrested and charged two youths who are being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Vandalism

  • March 1 – About 8:45pm, rocks were thrown at a vehicle parked in a car park on Fisher Street, Cherbourg, causing damage.
  • March 1 – About 9:00pm, a rock was thrown at a vehicle travelling on Broadway Street, Cherbourg, smashing the rear windscreen.
  • March 4 – Between 9:00am and 3:30pm, the rear windscreen of a parked vehicle was smashed in Bell Street, Cherbourg.
  • March 4 – About 10:45am, an unknown man attended a business in Macalister Street, Murgon and damaged a parked vehicle.
  • Between 5:30pm on March 8 and 8:30am on March 9, a window was smashed at a business in Lamb Street, Murgon. A youth is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act for this incident.

Police from Murgon, Cherbourg and Wondai responded to a variety of incidents between March 1-8, including drug, traffic and property offences.  Police also attended 11 calls related to domestic violence, issued two infringement notices for life-endangering traffic offences and performed 94 roadside breath tests.
