The body of a Mondure man who went missing after he attempted to wade across a flooded road in the aftermath of Cyclone Debbie has been found.

David Heidemann, 50, left a house on Mondure Wheatlands Road in Mondure at about 8:00pm on Thursday, March 30.

He told family he planned to visit a friend, but never arrived.

Emergency services have been leading an extensive for him for the past week, which included police divers searching canals leading into Barambah Creek.

Swiftwater rescue teams were also part of the search effort.

The search resumed on Saturday morning and ended about 8:30am, when a member of the State Emergency Service found his body in Barambah Creek.

Mr Heidemann was one of at least five people killed in floods that caused widespread damage across Queensland and northern New South Wales.

Queensland Police Service said a report would be prepared for the coroner.
