Acting Attorney-General Dr Anthony Lynham

Twenty South Burnett not-for-profit groups will share more than $415,600 in funding under the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund scheme.

Recipients ranged from the Cooyar Rural Fire Brigade and the Proston Scouts, to the Blackbutt State School and the Goomeri SES.

The groups are part of the more than 600 community groups across Queensland who received a share of more than $13 million in funding.

Acting Attorney-General Dr Anthony Lynham congratulated the 643 not-for-profit groups.

“Delivering this funding just before Christmas will not only give these vital not-for-profit groups a boost over this busy period, but it will also help them forward plan for 2017,” Dr Lynham said.

Dr Lynham said the GCBF returned almost $53 million to 2360 community groups last financial year.

Applications for Round 91 of the grants scheme close on January 13.

“The GCBF’s new user-friendly online portal will make the application process even easier,” Dr Lynham said.

“To apply for funding, groups now need to login to the portal, register their organisation and complete their application. They can use a range of devices and internet browsers to do this.

“When the application is received, it can be viewed by the applicant in real-time and they can acquit or vary their grant.”
