Nanango Airport has been closed by the South Burnett Regional Council until further notice.

A Council spokesperson said “tree obstacles” had infringed on the approach and take-off zones at the airport.

southburnett.com.au understands at least some of these trees are growing on private land.

The spokesperson said the closure was to allow the trees to be removed.

“Work has been scheduled to commence on Monday, November 21,” the spokesperson said.

“Council will advise when the airport has been reopened.”
