A plastic water tank burns to the ground at Teelah on Saturday afternoon after a bushfire threatened homes on Stretton Drive

Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews were called to a large vegetation fire burning near Stretton Drive at Teelah, north of Blackbutt, on Saturday.

Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, which broke out about 1:00pm, and put protection around houses along a ridge line.

The fire caused significant smoke, and residents in the area were advised to close windows and doors if affected.

southburnett.com.au was at the fire scene at 2:00pm and saw urban and rural fire brigade crews in attendance, along with a new regional water tanker and ambulance personnel.

It appeared the fire had started in a nearby valley and raced up the valley towards properties.

A water tank and a greenhouse were damaged by flames.

UPDATE November 6: The Teelah fire flared up again on Sunday with multiple rural brigades back in action, as well as a water-bombing aircraft.
