A 24-year-old Brisbane man has been charged with trespassing and public nuisance after an incident at Kingaroy Police Station at the weekend.

Officer-in-charge, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the 24-year-old Brisbane man turned up at the police station just before 5:00am on Sunday after having an argument with a woman.

“He went to the back and side of the building and started banging on the windows,” Snr Sgt Frank Said,

Police went outside and found the man in the driveway of the police station.

Snr Sgt Frank said police would allege the man was agitated and carrying a large spanner; he began acting aggressively, threatening the two officers.

“He was demanding that police shoot him or taser him,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

He said police tried to negotiate with the man for an extended time, asking him to drop the weapon and trying to determine what was going on.

However, the man allegedly continued to be uncooperative, challenging and threatening the officers.

Snr Sgt Frank said that to stop the incident escalating any further, police used capsicum spray to subdue the man, and then took him into custody.

Neither police officer was injured and Snr Sgt Frank said the man suffered no residual effects from the spray.

The incident was recorded on a body-camera being worn by one of the officers.

The man was later released on bail to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on May 9.
