Queensland Running is bringing a special cross country program to the South Burnett next weekend and runners of all ages and abilities are invited to take part.

There’ll be events ranging in length from 500 metres to 8000 metres starting at 11:30am (see program below).

Entry is free however entries close on Friday (April 15) to assist with organisation.

School-aged athletes from across the region have already been invited to take part.

The South Burnett meet will be held in the parklands adjacent to Tipperary Flat at Nanango.

The shortest distance, 500m, will be a Fun Walk for parents, or just for people wanting a little bit more exercise.

There will also be two “combined start” runs: 3000/5000 metres and 4000/6000/8000 metres.

These combined lengths enable competitors to drop back to a shorter distance if they are tiring or continue on for a longer distance if they’re running well.

Runners can take part in as many events as they wish on the day.

A free sausage sizzle will be held for all runners at the end of the meet.

  1. With this great event in mind, please please wear BRIGHT or REFLECTIVE clothing when jogging either early in the mornings or evenings. Your safety is in your hands so light up and live. Be seen.
