Brain Fitness workshop presenters Selena Bartlett and Sheryl Batchelor at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre

A workshop in Kingaroy designed to help people “train their brains” to reduce stress, sleep better and improve their memories attracted almost 50 participants last weekend.

Prof Selena Bartlett, from the Faculty of Health at the Queensland University of Technology, and former teacher Sheryl Batchelor presented “Brain Fitness For Healthy Bodies” at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre.

After an introduction to the concept of neuroplasticity (ie. that your brain can change) the workshop was split into two streams: weight management and stress reduction, and improving leaning outcomes for kids.

Tina Torrens, from Torkit Business Solutions which organised the workshop, said she had received a lot of positive feedback from participants.

One of the highlights of the day was a talk by local resident Anna Tarraran who shared how she had used brain training to help her overcome her 20-year sugar addiction and lose weight (a YouTube video about Anna’s story is below).

Tina invited anyone who wanted to learn more about brain training to visit her website
