Cr Ray Currie will face three challengers in Gympie’s Division 6

February 17, 2016

Gympie Regional Council voters will have three choices for Mayor – including incumbent Mayor Mick Curran – and a field of 27 candidates for the eight Councillor spots available.

Gympie uses a divisional system like the South Burnett.

Division 6, which covers most of the area covered by the former Kilkivan Shire Council, will be of particular interest to readers in Goomeri and Kilkivan where incumbent Cr Ray Currie will face three challengers: Kevin White, Brian Thomas and Hilary Smerdon.

Cr Currie was the former CEO of Kilkivan Shire Council.

He was appointed as Divisional councillor in April last year to fill a vacancy caused by the departure of former Cr Tony Perrett, who was elected as the Member for Gympie at the January 2015 State election.
