RSPCA Queensland has stepped in to help ease the pain of anyone left holding Dick Smith vouchers following the appointment of receivers to the chain  last week.

The organisation has offered to honour the vouchers at a 50 per cent rate at its World for Pets stores and World for Pets online.

“We felt incredibly sorry for those who have been affected,” RSPCA Qld CEO Mark Townend said.

“Many of them will have pets and this is a way we can at least give them something in return.”

The Dick Smith vouchers must be sent via registered mail to RSPCA Queensland (Attention Retail) prior to March 31. The card needs to be accompanied with a valid email address and contact telephone number.

World for Pets will then email the person a voucher for 50 per cent of the remaining value of the voucher.

Or shoppers should bring their Dick Smith voucher into one of the World for Pets stores where staff will offer 50 per cent of the remaining value of the voucher to be used in store.

The only condition is that the customer must spend at least double the amount of the remaining value on the voucher in the transaction. (eg. Remaining value on Dick Smith Voucher $100 = World for Pets $50 value. Spend $100 in store, pay $50 cash and redeem $50 from the Dick Smith voucher)

“At least voucher holders are getting something. It seems heartless that the company offered them nothing,” Mr Townend said.
