Senior Constable Brendan Seymour, Kingaroy Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank and Road Policing Unit (Dalby) Officer-in-Charge Sgt Brett Stevenson with speeding motorists’ worst nightmares

Motorists tempted to put the pedal to the metal on South Burnett roads over the Christmas break will have a fresh hazard to deal with … a new brightly coloured police motorbike looming in their rear-view mirrors.

The Honda has joined the Road Policing Unit which operates out of Dalby and covers the South Burnett region.

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart announced a new eye-catching livery for Queensland police motorcycles in August.

One of the new bikes paid a visit to Kingaroy on Tuesday.

“These new motorcycles will support the Fatal Five message around Queensland as they are used for marked police patrols, speed detection activities and random breath and drug-testing operations,” Commissioner Stewart said.

Police will be out in force over the holidays, targeting all road rules, but specifically the Fatal Five: drink driving, speeding, driving tired, not wearing a seatbelt and driving distracted.

So far this year, 213 people have lost their lives on Queensland roads and police are determined to prevent more tragedies, especially over the festive period.
